A farmer must take a wolf, a goat, and a cabbage across a river. The boat carries only the farmer plus ONE of them at a time. If they are left together without the farmer, the wolf eats the goat, and the goat eats the cabbage. What is the fewest river crossings needed to get all three across safely?
